    In the central part, a palm tree with coconuts is depicted. To the left of the trunk is the inscription "FOOD FOR ALL", and to the left of that is the year of minting "1980".

    In the central part is the coat of arms of Western Samoa: against a background of radial patterns, a heraldic shield featuring a stylized depiction of the Southern Cross constellation, ocean waves, and a coconut palm. Above the shield is a cross, flanked by olive branches. At the base of the coat of arms is the motto "God is the Foundation of Samoa" in Samoan "FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA". In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the name of the state "SAMOA I SISIFO" (Western Samoa) in Samoan, and at the bottom is "$ 1".
