Obverse
At the top near the rim, the English inscription 'BANK OF NAURU'. At the bottom, the year of issue — 1996. In the center, the state coat of arms of the Republic of Nauru. A parted and per pale shield is surmounted by a 12-pointed star and a ribbon with the state's name in Nauruan 'NAOERO'. The upper field depicts the alchemical symbol for phosphorus. The lower right field shows a frigate bird on a T-shaped perch facing left. The lower left field shows a flowering branch of a Calophyllum tree. The shield is surrounded by decoration of woven palm ropes and frigate bird feathers. The ribbon at the bottom bears the national motto in English 'GOD'S WILL FIRST'.
