    At the top along the edge of the coin is the country name in English: "JAMAICA". In the central part is depicted the national coat of arms from 1962. Below it is the motto in English: "OUT OF MANY - ONE PEOPLE". At the bottom along the edge of the coin is the inscription "ONE DOLLAR" and the year of minting: "1981". The edges of the rim are decorated with raised decorative denticles.
