In the central part, a full-length figure of the Portuguese navigator Pedro Álvares Cabral, a military commander, explorer, and discoverer of Brazil. In his left hand he holds a flag, in his right a Christian symbol, below him — a star shining with numerous rays. Below the image of Pedro Álvares Cabral is an inscription with his name in Portuguese: 'PEDR. ALVARES CABRAL'.
