  • Reverse
    The central part features the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Spain. To the left of the shield is the numeral '4', to the right the letter 'S' - 4 escudos. In the upper part, along the rim, is a Latin inscription: 'IN.UTROQ.FÉLIX.AUSPICE.DEO.HT', which translates to 'Successful in both worlds under the auspices of God'. Along the lower rim is the mint mark for Mexico City. The edge of the coin features decorative denticles.
  • Obverse
    The central part features the right-facing profile of King Charles IV of Spain. To the left and right along the rim is the text: 'CAROL.IIII.D.G.HISP.ET IND.R.', which translates from Latin as 'Charles IV by the Grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies'. In the lower part, along the rim and separated by dots, is the year of mintage: 1808. The edge of the coin features decorative denticles.
