In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a nude male runner with an Olympic torch against the background of a globe. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the inscription: «XXIV Олимпийские игры в Сеуле 1988 г.», in English «XXIV OLYMPIC GAMES SEOUL 1988». Along the lower edge, separated by dots, is the inscription in English: 50 DOLLARS.
Obverse
In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II. Below the neck truncation is the producer's (mint) mark, Pobjoy Mint in Tadworth «PM». To the left and right along the rim are inscriptions in English: «ELIZABETH II» and «COOK ISLANDS». At the bottom near the rim is the year of issue 1987.
