To the right is the Latin inscription 'JUSTITIA ET CLEMENTIA' (Justice and Mercy), to the left the artist's name Herbert Wähner - 'H Wähner'. Along the upper edge in an arc is the Empress's name in German 'MARIA THERESIA' (Maria Theresa). The coin's rim features decorative raised dots.
