    In the central part, a large numeral '2' on the left, with the English inscription 'EURO' to its right, translating to '2 Euro'. Below the letter 'O' is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. The inscription is placed over the outlines of a map of Europe. Six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards from it, ending with 12 stars.

    Along the rim on the outer ring, 12 stars of the European Union are evenly distributed. On the inner disc, the French inscription 'PIERRE DE COUBERTIN' is at the top. In the central part: on the right is a portrait of a young Pierre de Coubertin; on the left are stylized Olympic rings with depictions of human figures symbolizing Olympic sports. In the lower left ring are the symbols 'RF', denoting France's mark on EU coins, and the year of issue '2013'. Further below is the mark of the Paris Mint (cornucopia), and to the right of Pierre's neck is the mark of the Chief Engraver Yves Sampo (pentagon).
