    In the central part, within a yellow circle, a stylized depiction of the 'Lion's Mound' memorial. Above it, in a semicircle, the country name in the three official languages - Dutch, French, and German: 'BELGIE - BELGIQUE - BELGIEN' - Belgium. At the base of the statue, the text in English: 'WATERLOO' - Waterloo, to the left and right of it the dates: 1815 - 2015, denoting the year of the battle and the year of minting respectively, and the mintmarks of the Royal Belgian Mint: the head of Archangel Michael and a cat - the mark of General Director Bernard Gillard. Along the edge of the coin are 12 five-pointed stars, symbolizing the 12 member countries of the European Union.
