Reverse At the top is a crown, the symbol of British rulers. To the left, bottom, and right along the rim are crossed maple branches tied together with a ribbon forming a bow. In the center is a four-line inscription in English: '5 cents Canada 1915'. The edge of the coin features raised elements in the form of dots.
Obverse In the center of the coin is a left-facing profile of King George V of Great Britain. An inscription runs along the upper edge from left to right: 'GEORGIVS V DEI GRA : REX ET IND : IMP :', which translates from Latin as 'George V, by the grace of God, King and Emperor of India'.
