    In the central part, a Great Blue Heron is depicted flying left over rippling water and cattail leaves. To the right are the Latin letters 'TCJ'. To the left of the bird's head, the mint year '2009' is placed horizontally. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top the country name 'CANADA', at the bottom the inscription 'DOLLAR'.
