    The central part features the monogram of Peter II: four intersecting Cyrillic letters 'P' (for Petr), arranged in a circle with their tops pointing inward and each crowned with an imperial crown. Between the letters are four Roman numerals 'II'. Within the monogram, in the center, are the digits of the coin's issue year: '17' on the left and '29' (1729) on the right, separated by the crossing point of the monogram's letters. Along the edge of the coin is a circular inscription: MONETA* NOVAIA* TSENA* RUBL* (NEW COIN* PRICE* RUBLE*), divided into four parts by crowns.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile portrait of Peter II, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the inscription: PETR•II•IMPERATOR•I SAMODERZHETS•VSEROSISKII (PETER II EMPEROR AND AUTOCRAT OF ALL RUSSIA).
