The central part features one of the disciplines – diving, with a stylized depiction of water below. Two athletes are performing various diving elements. On the right, a female athlete executes a dive with a body rotation; on the left, a male athlete, having completed the acrobatic part of his performance, finishes with an entry into the water.

In the central part is the coat of arms of the Independent State of Samoa: against a background of radial patterns, a heraldic shield with a stylized depiction of the 'Southern Cross' constellation, ocean waves, and a coconut palm. Above the shield is a cross, with olive branches on either side. In the lower part of the coat of arms is the motto 'God is the Foundation of Samoa' (Samoan: FA’AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA). In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the name of the state 'SAMOA I SISIFO' (Western Samoa in Samoan), with the denomination '10 TALA' and '$ 10' below.
