  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle. Both eagle heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Above the eagle is the issue date—'1796 GODA'—divided by the upper crown. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Below the right talon is the letter 'B', and below the left, the letter 'M'. The mintmark of the Bank Mint. The rim is decorated with denticles.
