    In the central part are five different cereal plants. Below them on the left is 'R' - the mintmark of the Rome Mint, on the right under the plants is the year of issue 1981. Below is a two-line inscription: 'GOURDES 50' - 50 gourdes. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the text in French: 'LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE', which translates to: 'Liberty. Equality. Fraternity'.

    In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the text in French: 'REPUBLIQUE D'HAYTI', which translates to: 'Republic of Haiti'. In the central part is a left-facing profile portrait of a young African woman. Below the neck truncation is the engraver's monogram: 'GIANDOMENKO'. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, is an inscription in French: 'JOURNEE MONDIALE DE L'ALIMENTATION', which translates to: 'World Food Day'. In the middle of the inscription is the emblem of the FAO. The inscriptions are separated by two dots.
