Reverse The upper part of the reverse features the crown of the Russian Empire. Below it, the denomination and monetary unit are indicated on two lines: 1 KOPEYKA. Below this is a line, under which are the letters 'I.M.' (Izhegorsk Mint). On the left side of the coin along the edge is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon. The coin's edge is decorated with a beaded border.
Obverse The center of the obverse is occupied by the lesser coat of arms of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle with wings spread. The eagle's heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'Ya', under the left – the letter 'V'. The initials of mintmaster Yakov Vilson. Below the initials is the year of mintage '1821.'. The border is decorated with beads.
