Along the edge of the coin is a Latin inscription to the right and left: 'HVNG∙BOH∙LOMB∙ET VEN∙GAL∙LOD∙IL∙REX∙A∙A∙1835∙' (King of Hungary, Bohemia, Lombardy and Venice, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria, Archduke of Austria 1835). Below is the numeral 20. The rim is decorated with decorative denticles.

Centered is the right-facing profile of Ferdinand I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and Bohemia, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Around the edge of the coin, from left to right, is the Latin text 'FERDINANDVS I∙D∙G∙AVST∙IMPERATOR∙' (Ferdinand I, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Austria).
