In the central part, within an open circle of six-pointed stars, an oak tree is depicted. The tree trunk divides the date "1928" - the year of minting - into two parts. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the phrase "EINHEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT", which translates from German as "Unity and Justice and Freedom". Along the lower edge is the letter "D" - the mint mark of the Munich Mint.
  • Obverse
Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the text "DEUTSCHES REICH", which translates from German as "German Reich". In the central part, within a circle of dots, an eagle with spread wings is depicted - the coat of arms of the Weimar Republic. At the lower left and right along the rim is the phrase "FÜNF REICHSMARK" ("five reichsmarks"). Oak leaves separate the upper and lower inscriptions.
