Along the left and right edges of the coin, an inscription in French reads: 'REPUBLIQUE D'HAYTI', which translates to 'Republic of Haiti'. Along the edge of the coin from left to right runs the text in French: 'J.P.BOYER PRESIDENT', which translates to 'President J.P. Boyer'. The central part features his left-facing profile. Below the neck truncation is the engraver's monogram. At the bottom of the rim, separated by six-pointed stars, is the inscription: 'AN 28', which corresponds to the year 1831 in the Gregorian calendar.
