In the central part is the lesser coat of arms of the Austrian Empire: a double-headed eagle with spread wings, its heads crowned, above them the Crown of Saint Stephen; in the eagle's right talon are a sword and scepter, in the left an orb; on its breast is the familial heraldic shield of Habsburg-Lorraine, encircled by a chain. Along the edge of the coin, an inscription in Latin arcs from right to left: 'HVN∙BOH∙GAL∙REX∙A∙A∙D∙LO∙SAL∙WIRC∙1809∙' (King of Hungary, Bohemia, Galicia, Archduke of Austria, Dalmatia, Lodomeria, Salzburg, Würzburg 1809).

In the center is the right-facing profile of Francis II, Emperor of the Austrian Empire, King of Hungary and Bohemia, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon. Around the edge of the coin, from left to right, runs the Latin text 'FRANCISCVS I∙D∙G∙AVSTRIAE∙IMPERATOR' (Francis I, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Austria). Below is the Latin letter 'C' – the mint mark of the Prague mint.
