  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, in the left an orb. Above the eagle is the minting year—'1741'. Around the eagle, facing inward, is the text: МОНЕТА•РУБЛЬ•
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. From left to right along the edge in an arc runs the inscription: Б•М•ЕЛИСАВЕТЪ•I•IМП: IСАМОД: ВСЕРОС: In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'С П Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
