    The central part depicts a portion of the national coat of arms: Mount Potosí, with the rising sun on the left, an alpaca facing right and a sheaf of wheat at the mountain's base. Below the image, six six-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle. Along the edge, the text reads from left to right: the country name in Spanish 'REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA' (Republic of Boliviana), below the Latin letters 'PTS', the inscription '8S' (8 scudo), the mint year '1837', the engraver's mark 'LM', with dots between the inscriptions. The rim is decorated with decorative denticles.

    Centered is a right-facing portrait of Bolivia's first president, Simón Bolívar, in uniform. Along the rim are inscriptions in Spanish: left and right 'LIBRE POR LA CONSTITUCION.' (Free by the Constitution), below the person's name 'Bolivar'. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
