    In the central part is an allegorical depiction of a bird facing left, perched on a pedestal executed as a geometric figure. The pedestal features two circles at the top and twelve serrations below. Beneath the pedestal are the two letters 'K' and 'G', denoting the initials of the artist George Edward Kruger-Gray. To the left of the bird are the digits '19', and to the right '36', indicating the year of issue. To the left is the word 'SOUTHERN', its beginning marked by a dot, and to the right 'RHODESIA', its end marked by a dot, translating from English as 'Southern Rhodesia', which at this time was a British colony. Below, between dots, is the inscription 'ONE SHILLING'. The edge of the coin features raised serrated designs.
