    At the top, following the rim in a semicircle, is the English name of the rocky island - 'NEWFOUNDLAND'. In the central part, an inscription in three lines reads '50 cents 1908', surrounded by a stylized ornament.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is a right-facing profile of King Edward VII of Great Britain. Along the rim from left to right runs the Latin legend 'EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR', which translates to 'Edward VII by the grace of God, King and Emperor'. Below the monarch's portrait is the designer's mark of the British medallist George William de Saulles - 'Des.'. The edge of the coin is decorated with raised dots.
