    In the central part is the national emblem of Zimbabwe - a statuette of the Hungwe bird, which divides the mint year "1939" into two parts. On either side of the statuette is the country name in English - "SOUTHERN RHODESIA", below - one shilling - "ONE SHILLING". Below the stylized bird image are the medallist's initials: "KG" - George Edward Kruger-Gray. The edge is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the central part of the coin is struck the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain. Along the rim, split into two parts, is text in English: on the left - "GEORGE VI", on the right - "KING EMPEROR", which translates to "GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR". Below the truncation of the monarch's neck is the author's mark of the British medallist "PM" - Percy Metcalfe. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
