Reverse
Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the inscription "ONE FLORIN – TWO SHILLINGS". The central part features the Australian Coat of Arms: a kangaroo and an emu supporting a shield, above which is the "Commonwealth Star", below it a torse, and beneath the shield the motto "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Below the coat of arms, flanked by heraldic roses, is the year of issue "1916", and below that the mint mark: "M" for Melbourne, Australia. The edge is decorated with decorative denticles.
Obverse
The central part of the coin features the left-facing profile of King George V of Great Britain. Along the edge of the coin is the Latin inscription "GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:", which translates to "GEORGE V BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING OF ALL BRITAIN, DEFENDER OF THE FAITH, EMPEROR OF INDIA". Below the portrait is a dot. The rim is decorated with decorative raised denticles.
