    In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of Sequoyah, a Cherokee leader, writing a manuscript and the English text: 'Sequoyah'. Near the leader's finger is the initial 'CLV' - the mark of sculptor Charles L. Vickers. Below the pen is the inscription: 1$. Beneath it is the initial 'CTS' - the mark of artist Chris Costello. Along the edge of the coin from left to right is the country name in English: 'UNITED STATES of AMERICA' and an inscription in Cherokee syllabary, separated by a five-pointed star.

    In the central part is an image of Sacagawea holding her son Jean-Baptiste on her back. On the woman's hood is the initial 'GG' - the mark of Denver Mint engraver Glenna Goodacre. To the left of the portrait is the US national motto in two lines: 'IN GOD WE TRUST'. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the English text: 'LIBERTY'.
