On the right side is the numeral 20, below it the inscription in Latin letters 'EURO CENT'. To the right are the initials of the designer Luc Luycx, the Latin letters 'LL'.
Obverse
In the center, a heraldic crowned lion facing left is depicted, standing on a sabre with its hind legs; its right foreleg is replaced by an arm holding a raised sword. To the left, the mint year '2002' is shown horizontally. Below the sabre's hilt is the Latin letter 'M' - the mint mark of the Director of the Mint of Finland, Raimo Tapio Makkonen. Around the circumference along the rim are twelve five-pointed stars.
