The central part features the coat of arms of Australia with animal depictions - a Kangaroo on the left and an Emu on the right (unofficial national emblems), which support the shield and are shown standing on grass. Below is a ribbon with the inscription "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Above the shield is a rope-like line, and above that, a seven-pointed star. The six rays of the star represent the six states, and the seventh represents the combined territories and Australia. Along the upper arc is the inscription: "ONE SHILLING". Along the lower arc of the coin's edge is the issue date "1927", placed between two heraldic roses. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part features the left-facing profile of British Emperor George V. Around the edge, from left to right, runs the Latin text "GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP:", which translates to "GEORGE V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith. King and Emperor of India". A raised dot is present at the bottom. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
