The central part features a fragment of a Mycenaean decorative motif. Around the circumference of the pattern is the inscription - «ΑΡΧΑΙΑ ΤΥΡΙΝΘΑ - ΜΥΚΗΝΕΣ» (Greek for Ancient Tiryns-Mycenae).
Obverse
The central part, against a background of a stylized sun pattern, depicts the coat of arms of Greece: a heraldic shield with a cross, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Below the coat of arms, on the right is the year of mintage '2013', on the left – a stylized acanthus leaf – the mintmark of the Athens Mint, Greece. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the country name Hellenic Republic in Greek «EΛΛHNIKH ΔHMOKATIA», below '50 euro' – «50 ΕΥΡΩ».
