In the central part is a shield bearing the heraldic depiction of the Australian coat of arms. To the left and right of the shield are images of Australian fauna - a Kangaroo on the left and an Emu on the right, supporting the shield and standing on grass, below which is a ribbon with the English inscription "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Above the shield is a rope-like line, and above that, a seven-pointed star. Along the upper edge arc is the inscription "THREE PENCE". Below is the issue date "1915", placed between two heraldic tridents. The coin's edge features decorative denticles.
  • Obverse
In the central part is the left-facing profile of King George V of England. Along the edge arc from left to right runs the Latin text "GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN REX F. D. IND: IMP:", which translates to "GEORGE V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith. King and Emperor of India". Below is a dot. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
