In the central part, the numeral: "100", framed by a floral pattern. Below is the year of issue: 1990, framed by the mintmarks of the Paris Mint: a cornucopia and a wing. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right runs the text in French: "UNION MONETAIRE OUEST-AFRICAINE" - West African Monetary Union.
Obverse
In the central part, a gold dust weight (Taku-Ashanti) figure. Below it is the letter "RJ" - the mark of the Paris Mint designer Raymond Joly. Around the edge of the coin is an inscription in French: "BANQUE CENTRALE ᴅᴇS ETATS ᴅᴇ L'AFRIQVE ᴅᴇ L'OUEST" - Central Bank of the West African States.
