In the central part, an inscription in two lines 'UN BOLIVIANO' (One Boliviano), below it the weight and metal fineness '25 GMS 9 DS FINO' (25 grams 0.9). On the left a semicircular laurel branch, on the right an oak branch, below the branches are tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Along the edge of the coin, an inscription from left to right 'LA UNION ES LA FUERZA' (Unity is strength), below the mint year '1872', to its left the Latin letters 'PTS', to its right 'F.E.'. All inscriptions are in Spanish. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
Obverse
In the central part, the coat of arms of the Republic of Bolivia is depicted. It consists of an oval inside which are depicted: Mount Potosí, on the left a rising sun, at the foot of the mountain an alpaca facing right, a sheaf of wheat and a breadfruit tree; on both sides of the oval three flags, two rifles, on the left a cannon barrel, on the right a halberd, above sits an Andean condor. Along the rim, the country's name in Spanish is split into two parts 'REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA' (Republic of Bolivia), below are nine five-pointed stars. The coin's edge features denticles.
