The reverse features a two-part composition recreating a historical moment of confrontation between two forces: on the left – static figures of young heroes personifying the defense of the Ukrainian People's Republic's independence; on the right – a dynamic depiction of an allegory of Bolshevik intervention in the form of an outstretched arm clearing a path for the attacking cavalry. Around the image is an inscription, separated by a solar sign: 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF KRUTY. 29.01.1918.
  • Obverse
In the central part is the small State Emblem of Ukraine against a background of a multi-figure composition embodying the idea of a 'shot-down' national revival: through the center of a target, marked on the coin field by three concentric circles, a column of armed youths marches into perspective. To the left and right of the image are the dates 1918-1998. Circular inscriptions: at the top UKRAINE and at the bottom in two lines 2 HRYVNIAS.
