In the central part, the coat of arms of the Portuguese colony of Angola is depicted: an armillary sphere with five towers; on the sphere - a heraldic shield, in the left half of which are five shields, in the right - an elephant and a zebra, below - waves. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, the name of the colony in Portuguese 'ANGOLA', below 5 escudos - '5$00', to the left and right are relief flowers. The edge of the coin has decorative raised teeth.
