In the central part is the Portuguese cross, with flowers above and between its arms. Along the edge arc is the motto 'In this sign you will conquer' in Latin 'IN HOC SIGNO VINCES', the words of the motto are separated by flowers. The rim features decorative elements in the form of dentils.

In the central part is the lesser coat of arms of the Kingdom of Portugal: a heraldic shield crowned with a royal crown, featuring five small shields in the form of a cross and seven castles. To the right and left of the arms (from bottom to top) are numeral inscriptions - '1795' and '300', framed by flowers. To the right and from the lower left along the edge is the text 'MARIA I BY THE GRACE OF GOD QUEEN OF PORTUGAL AND THE ALGARVES' in Latin 'MARIA I D. G. PORT. ET ALG. REGINA'. Along the rim are elements in the form of dentils.
