Reverse In the central part, the coat of arms of Fiji: a heraldic shield flanked by warriors, with a takia above the shield and a motto at the base. The central part of the shield features a cross, above it a lion holding a cocoa pod. The top left quarter of the shield depicts sugarcane, the bottom right a bunch of bananas, the top right a coconut palm, and the bottom left a dove. Above and below, the English text 'One Dollar' is split into two parts: 'ONE' at the top and 'DOLLAR' at the bottom. Along the rim of the coin is a pattern of cinquefoils.
Obverse In the central part, the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. On the left side, along the rim, is the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II'. On the right side is the name of the colony 'FIJI' and the year of minting '1969'.
