    In the central part, within a stylized circular frame, is a palm tree dividing the mint year '1913' into two parts. At the top, along the rim, is the inscription 'BRITISH WEST AFRICA' in English, and at the bottom 'TWO SHILLINGS'. The edge is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the central part of the coin is struck the left-facing profile of King George V of Great Britain. Along the arc of the coin's edge runs the Latin text '∙GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:', which translates to 'GEORGE V BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING OF ALL THE BRITONS, DEFENDER OF THE FAITH, EMPEROR OF INDIA'. Below the portrait is a dot. The coin's rim features decorative raised denticles.
