    In the central part are three wheat ears tied with a ribbon, dividing the mint year '1964' into two parts. Along the upper edge arc is the country name in English 'AUSTRALIA', below three pence – 'THREE PENCE'. On the sides of the ribbon is the mark of the English designer George Edward Kruger-Gray - 'KG'.

    In the central part is a right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a laurel wreath. Above, along the rim, a cross indicates the beginning of the inscription: 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F:D:' (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith) in Latin. The edge of the coin features decorative raised dots.
