The central part features the lesser coat of arms of the Austrian Empire: a double-headed eagle with spread wings, its heads crowned, above them the Crown of Saint Stephen. In its right talon, the eagle holds a sword and scepter, in its left an orb. On its chest is the family heraldic shield of Habsburg-Lorraine, encircled by a chain, with the empire's highest orders below the shield. Along the edge of the coin is a Latin inscription to the right and left: 'HVN.BOH.LOMB.ET VEN.GAL.LOD.IL.REX.A.A.1831.' (King of Hungary, Bohemia, Lombardy and Venice, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria, Archduke of Austria 1831). The rim is decorated with decorative denticles.
Obverse
Centered is the right-facing profile of Emperor of the Austrian Empire, King of Hungary and Bohemia, Francis II, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Along the edge of the coin, from left to right, runs a Latin inscription: 'FRANCISCVS I.D.G.AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR.' (Francis I, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Austria). In the lower part is the letter 'A' – the mint mark of the Vienna Mint. The rim features decorative raised denticles.
