On the left, top, and right, the name of the state in French 'REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN' (Republic of Benin). In the central part is the country's coat of arms. It consists of a quarterly heraldic shield: in the upper left quarter a castle, upper right - the Star of Benin, lower left - a palm tree, lower right - a sailing ship. The shield is supported by leopards, topped by a crest consisting of two twisted cornucopias filled with grain and sand. At the base of the coat of arms is the motto - 'Fraternity, Justice, Labor' (Fraternité, Justice, Travail).
