Centered is the right-facing profile of Ferdinand I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and Bohemia, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Around the edge, from left to right, runs the Latin text: 'FERDINANDVS I∙D∙G∙AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR∙' (Ferdinand I, by the Grace of God, Emperor of Austria). Below is the Latin letter 'A' – the mint mark of Vienna. The rim features decorative raised dots.
