    In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the text 'HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II'. Below, in two lines, is 'ROYAL JUBILEE 1977'. In the central part of the reverse is a relief design: a right-facing profile portrait of British Queen Elizabeth II, below are islands with palm trees and a thatched hut, to the right is a cruise liner.

    In the central part is depicted the coat of arms of the state of Western Samoa: against a background of radial patterns, a heraldic shield with a stylized image of the 'Southern Cross' constellation, sea waves, and a coconut palm.
