    In the central part is the lesser coat of arms of the Austrian Empire: a double-headed eagle with wings spread, its heads crowned, above them the Crown of Saint Stephen; in the eagle's right talon are a sword and scepter, in the left an orb; on its breast is the dynastic heraldic shield of Habsburg-Lorraine, encircled by a chain, below the shield are the empire's highest orders. Along the upper edge of the coin is a Latin inscription to the right and left: 'REX∙LOMB∙ET∙VEN∙DALM∙GAL∙LOD∙ILL∙A∙A∙1849∙' (King of Lombardy and Venice, Dalmatia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria, Archduke of Austria 1849). Along the rim are decorative elements in the form of dots.

    Centered is the left-facing profile of Emperor of the Austrian Empire, King of Bohemia, Franz Joseph I, crowned with a laurel wreath with a ribbon forming a bow. Around the edge of the coin from left to right runs the Latin text 'FRANC∙IOS∙I∙D∙G∙AVSTR∙IMP∙HVNG∙BOH∙REX' (Franz Joseph I, by the Grace of God Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, Bohemia). Below is the Latin letter 'A' - the mint mark of Vienna. Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots.
