The central part features the coat of arms of Australia with animal depictions - a Kangaroo on the left and an Emu on the right (unofficial national emblems), which support the shield and are shown standing on grass. Below is a ribbon with the inscription "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Below that is the letter "D" - the mint mark. Above the shield is a rope-like line, and above that, a seven-pointed star. Six points of the star represent the six states, and the seventh represents the combined territories and Australia. Along the upper edge arc, the English text: "SIXPENCE". Along the lower edge arc, the date of issue "1943" is placed between two heraldic roses. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part features the left-facing profile of George VI, Emperor of Great Britain. Around the edge, from left to right, runs the Latin inscription "GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP.", which translates to "George VI, by the grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India". Below the neck truncation are the incused letters "HP", denoting the initials of the artist Thomas Humphrey Paget. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
