    In the central part is the lesser coat of arms of the Austrian Empire: a double-headed eagle with spread wings, its heads crowned, above them the Crown of Saint Stephen; in the eagle's right talon are a sword and scepter, in the left an orb; on its breast is the familial heraldic shield of Habsburg-Lorraine, encircled by a chain. Along the edge of the coin is a Latin inscription on the right and left: 'REX∙LOMB∙ET∙VEN∙DALM∙GAL∙LOD∙ILL∙A∙A∙1847∙' (King of Lombardy and Venice, Dalmatia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria, Archduke of Austria 1847), below the numeral 20. The rim is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of Emperor of the Austrian Empire, King of Hungary and Bohemia, Ferdinand I, wearing a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Along the edge of the coin from left to right runs a Latin inscription: 'FERD∙I∙D∙G∙AVSTR∙IMP∙HVNG∙BOH∙R∙H∙N∙V∙' (Ferdinand I, by the Grace of God Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, Bohemia, etc.). Below is the Latin letter 'A' - the mint mark of the Vienna Mint. The rim of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
