Reverse The central part features the denomination in two lines in Japanese: «十 銭» (10 Sen). Above is the emblem of the Emperor of Japan (a 16-petal chrysanthemum). Along the arcs of the left and right edges of the coin are branches tied together with a ribbon forming a bow. The circumference is decorated with tooth-like elements.
Obverse The central part, within a circle of dots, depicts a Japanese dragon. On the left side, along the arc of the coin's edge (from top to bottom), is the inscription «本 日 大», which translates from Japanese as 'Empire of the Rising Sun'. On the right side, along the arc of the coin's edge (from bottom to top), is the inscription - the year of minting from the beginning of the Meiji era. At the bottom, along the arc of the coin's edge, is an inscription in Latin letters «10 SEN», which translates as '10 sen'.
