    Along the upper edge from left to right is the text 'MEDIEVAL BULGARIAN RULERS' in Bulgarian 'СРЕДНОВЕКОВНИ БЪЛГАРСКИ ВЛАДЕТЕЛИ', below the ruler's name Khan Krum - 'ХАН КРYМ', framed by two dots. The central part features an illustration: the pursuit of the Byzantines. The relief drawing in the central part of the reverse is separated from the legend by a ring of raised dots.

    At the top, following the rim in a semicircle, is the inscription 'БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА' (Bulgarian National Bank), below the year of issue '2011'. The central part features an illustration from the Chronicle of Constantine Manasses: Khan Krum proposes a toast to the Slavic rulers. Below the image is the bank's emblem, flanked left and right by the split inscription ten leva '10 ЛЕВА', above it - 'Proof'. The emblem is a heraldic shield with an oak leaf, held by two armored lions, with a ribbon at the base bearing the bank's founding year '1879'.
