In the central part is a shield bearing the heraldic depiction of the Coat of Arms of Australia. To the left and right of the shield are images of animals - a Kangaroo on the left and an Emu on the right, which support the shield and stand on grass, below which is a ribbon with the English inscription "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Above the shield is a rope-like line, and above that a seven-pointed star. Along the upper edge is the inscription "ONE SHILLING". At the bottom is the issue date "1911", placed between two ears of corn. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
In the central part is the left-facing profile of King George V of England. Along the edge of the coin from left to right runs a Latin text: "GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN REX F. D. IND: IMP:", which translates to "GEORGE V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith. King and Emperor of India". Below is a raised dot. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
