  • Reverse
    The central part of the reverse features a relief image of a split pomegranate on a branch. To the left of the pomegranate is the numeral 8, to the right is 'R' - 8 reales. Along the upper edge of the coin is an inscription in Spanish: 'CUNDINAMARCA. I. F.'. 'Cundinamarca' is the name of one of the provinces (states) of Colombia. 'I.F.' can be translated as 'Independent (independiente) Federation (federación)'. The rim is decorated with decorative elements in the form of dentils.
  • Obverse
    The central part depicts the head of an Indian facing left, wearing a national headdress. Around the rim is an inscription in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DE COLUMBIA', which translates to 'Republic of Colombia'. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, is the date 1820, separated from the inscription by dots. The rim is decorated with decorative elements in the form of dentils.
